Lionel “Hap” Metivier, WWll infantry veteran, bronze medal recipient and retired SUNY Brockport professor, will share his experiences while overseas during WWII, including surviving the Battle of the Bulge and releasing prisoners from work camps soon after the war was over. Known as “Frenchie” because of his French American upbringing, Hap was a valuable asset due to his ability to speak French. Special guest Patrick Bastow, DDS, local author of My Heroes and Their Stories of Survival, which includes several stories of local WWII veterans, will be here to introduce Hap.
